Kombucha...Hype or Health?

Kombucha is fermented tea and has been consumed for many years, but has recently gained a ton of popularity! Kombucha can now be purchased at the grocery store, most smoothie/juice bars and many cafes even sell kombucha on tap!

Kombucha is full of antioxidants and is completely beneficial for your health making it completely worth the hype! Here a few reasons why you should consider incorporating kombucha into your diet.

1. It is Full of Good Probiotics

Probiotics are essential in providing your gut with good bacteria. These probiotics are beneficial to your health due to it’s gut healing, anti-inflammatory and digestion promoting properties. These good probiotics can even help aid in weight loss.

2. Can Kill Bacteria

Kombucha that is made from black or green tea has strong antibacterial properties which is great for fighting against infection causing bacteria.

3. Helps Prevent Heart Disease

Heart disease is the world's leading cause of death, however drinking kombucha can help prevent heart disease by decreasing “bad” cholesterol, LDL, and increasing “good” cholesterol, HDL.

For some, kombucha is an acquired taste, but there are many different brands and flavors of kombucha for purchase and with some taste testing, you will definitely find a bottle of kombucha that you enjoy! My personal favorite kombucha brand is East Coast Kombucha.
